Franz is a little school boy in the Alsace and Lorrine area in France. This area has been occupied by the Germans and orders have come from Berlin that only German will be taught in the schools of Alsace and Lorrine. M Hamel, the teacher held his last class in French language. The declaration of the last class shocked everybody and they realised their mistake.
It was the habit of the people of Alsace and Lorrine to put things away to be done in future. This was a big fault. Franz used to neglect his lessons. Generally he went sliding at the Saar or searching birds eggs. He used to neglect his lessons and put them to be learnt in future. The parents and guardians also preferred to send their children to work in farms and factories to earn some extra money for the family. This cost the education of the children. The teacher, M. Hamel too was responsible for sometimes he engaged the boys to water his flower gardens. Again sometimes when he went fishing he used to declare a holiday. These factors were responsible for Franz's inability to learn his own language.
